Hello everyone,
Just a quick introduction, I'm Caan, 38yrs old. Never owned a 4X4 before, Just never had the funds and time to get into it. But now that I am older, most of that stuff isn't an issue. I have been looking for a decent older model Suburban for over a year, to get 3 kids to school, dog to the vet or park and just poke around town, also don't want my wife driving any more of my vehicles, and my Suburan is perfect to have her stay away from.. They are hard to find in the south and I ended up paying $4,500 for it. I thought it was a fair deal considering what others had looked like that might have been 1,000 or 2,000 less, Usually they are rust buckets down here. But I found one last month from California (VERY CLEAN), no rust and jumped on it. It's in decent shape, 1987 GMC 2500 4X4, 5.7, 14 Bolt rear end, ?99,000 miles, Navy Blue exterior, Blue interior. It's also got some crazy custom roof rack. I've never seen one like this before and it's seriously heavy duty and mean looking. I'll post some pics soon. The rest of the Burb is mainly stock. The previous owner put a 2 1/2 inch suspension lift on blocks. It drives great so far. Trans is smooth while driving, however going from PARK to DRIVE sometimes jerks hard. But there is a lot I want to do to get it where I want it. Some ideas I have are 33's to 35's and up the lift slightly to maybe 4 or even 6 inches. I have so many questions and am almost embarrassed to admit that I don't know very much about mechanic work, or 4X4 talk. But I am eager to learn, and willing to do what I can with my limited knowledge and tools, and will absorb any info that is offered to me. Thanks for your time I look forward to discussing stuff in the near future.
