77 Center caps
« on: August 13, 2006, 12:31:00 am »
Where can I find the three bolts that hold on the center caps on the stock rally wheels? Also what was the factory tire size?

Thanks

I use 5/16"stainless steel bolts. Have never had one come loose and they don't rust.

2wd?  Not sure what year they started using the metric system to measure tires but the later years came with 235/75/15.

Yea its a 2 wheel drive. So you used 5/16 stainless steel bolts, what was the length of the ones you used?

I used 1" long.I just had a new set that came with my caps and threw them out. The bolts are designed to not come undone while driving, but I've never had one come loose.

You could use a drop of Locktite if you don't feel comfortable  using different bolts.

The reason I was asking was because I just bought a set of stock rally wheels and they didn't come with center caps so I was going to buy the Wheel Vintiques 1042 center caps but it doesn't say if they come with bolts.

Also where can I get the stock Chevy centercaps?

Truck has center caps. They're made of plastic and chromed.  I found mine at a vintage automotive flea market.

i bought a set for my 4x4 at my local chevy dealer, and they are metal. they were still avail. just a few year ago,not sure about now but it's worth a shot. i don't remember the price but they were worth the price because they were oem. and i also repaced the bolts with stainless, they just look better.

The actual original tire size is L78-15, today it is known as the P235/75R15. I checked out your page, nice truck! This is what I've been working on:1977 Chevy Truck
