79 GMC Flatbed mud truck
« on: November 19, 2011, 10:20:06 pm »
i traded a xd springfield 9mm for this truck from a guy who thought it wouldnt run. I payed 450 for the gun so I guess thats what the truck cost me.  I was getting spark and fuel to the carb but not past the float so I smacked it with a hammer.lol.

when I first got it she had a 350-4speed-205 dana 44 and corporate 14 full float.  I soon stuck a 6 in lift under it and used 36 humv tires (16.5).  I then replaced the 4 speed and 205 with another unit that shifted better and put a new clutch in it.

Everytime i would drop the clutch I'd snap an axle joint so the other weekend i put in my turbo 400 (rebuilt w/ stage 2 shift kit), diesel toque converter and a turbo 400.  I know the real issue is the front end, I need to buy the steering or just make a lift block because i do have a dana 60, would have to then find a 4.11 full floater.

Now she is sitting on 39.5 swampers and I changed the front chrome to a 75.  Had to cut the fenders up front, they was rusted anyways.

So you use it as a mud truck ?  Just for fun or racing ?

lol thanks guys. This year she was just pure fun as well as a great pull out truck.  I towed out *at least* 20+ last summer.  I imagine this coming year I will race it, being I did away with the 4speed for a built 400.

Any of you guys got a lift on your truck? measure from the top of the ubolt pad to the bottom of your frame.  I get 11 inches in the front which seems bigger then 6 in of lift.  my 4 in lift truck measures 7inches

Watch this video here :D lol

right when my brother says "oh its fine".....

At that spot I pulled a 2 wheel drive v10 superduty out of that hole, plus a pathfinder, and a couple chevys. just within a week.
