why different size pictures
« on: November 23, 2011, 11:24:14 am »
How come  some posted pictures are different sizes? Some are big and real clear others have been resized to fit. Read the resize info under tech section but still not sure how to make pictures bigger? J.W.

if you upload them to this site there is a size limit, while if you use photobucket and host it from there it can be any size

pictures in general are different sizes.  It depends on your camera.  I have a point and shoot that is 6 megapixels and creates a rather large size pic.  I have to open it with corel photo paint to downsize to host to my website and type the link here when i put a pic here.  I have a new Canon Rebel EOS 2Ti that is 18 megapixels that, if size true, would cover about 10 computer monitors set up in a square these pics are so big.  but i can crop these pics to get right down on the action, or simply downsize them to 8 or 10% using my software to get it the right size to post here.

So it depends on the camera, if you have photo editing software, or if it is cropped.  That's why pics are different sizes.

here are two diff sizes:

downsized to 4%:

this one (below) is an 18mp pic version of the above that I took with my Canon and I host on my webiste.  You may have to click the pic itself once it uploads to see the actual size.  Put your mouse over it and a hand should be seen and click.

Depending on what software you have, both the mac and windows have built in resize software, they are not as good as others but will work.

re-save the photos as .jpg files and choose 800x600 resolution.  IF it is bigger than this it won't look right on the forum, and will be to big to upload.
