Great site! Glad I found it. This is my '87 1-ton crew cab duelly. I got it from the Lewis County fire dept. the thing was garage kept since it was new and had 46k on it. powered by tbi 350/th400 4.10 diff. Thinkin about putting some kind of a diesel under the hood cause fuel economy sucks.

Welcome from another Alaskan. Seems to be more and more of us in Alaska joining the site.
Are you thinking a Duramax or Cummins? Cummins up here can be found but are generally overpriced. There were never many of the Dodge pu sold back in the late 80s or early 90s w/ Cummins. Demand outpaces supply and salvage yards charge a premium. Watch CraigsList on a daily basis, be patient and a deal may come your way. I've seen a few Duramax diesels on CraigsList but haven't really followed prices for them.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm located in Haines which makes it very tough to find a good used diesel to swap with. I really want to find a 12v cummins to put in there but, like you say they're so overpriced. I'm really in a pickle because a friend gave me a 5 cyl turbo Mecedes ,but I'm so worried it's gonna be under powered.
Mercedes powered Chevy- I don't know whether to say "wow cool!" or puke
