Steering column measurements help
« on: December 04, 2011, 01:16:41 am »
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone out there has a steering column out and could do a few measurements for me.  I have a column from a 2000 that I wanna swap in (don't worry, it will look right when I get the custom dash done) and I need a measurement of:
a.)The bracket that mounts to the dash; how big it is, bolt hole sizes, distance apart, etc.
b.)How far the bracket is from the base of the steering wheel

My current column is an 81 tilt, if that makes any difference.  Any help is appreciated!

Is this for the 81 or the 2000?  Did you get this info?

Haven't gotten any info yet.  I'm looking for the bracket measurements (size, holes, and distance from the wheel) for an '81 column so I can modify the 2000 column to fit an '81.  It wouldn't be impossible to measure my stock '81 column, I just figure it would be simpler if someone else had a one out of their truck and had the time to take a few quick measurements.

The mounting holes are about 5" apart, the bolts are 5/16".  The bracket bolts to the column with 4 bolts and the edge of the column is 5.25" from the "bump" on the column.

A 2000 truck is going to be VASTLY different.

Sweet, thanks.  And yeah, I know there's significant differences, but I'm willing to attempt the mods.  I picked up the 2000 column for cheap, so I'll give 'er a go.
