Since when does changing the output shaft change the model of a transmission???

Not to mention you have to completely disassemble the whole thing to change the output shaft!!!

He's not saying you would change the model, a 4l60 is the newer conversion of the 700r4 just with the electronic shift control.  What he is trying to say is that by unbolting to transfer case and tail shaft you can put a 2WD output shaft on.

You need to completely dismantle the trans to install a different output shaft. Not just simply take the transfer case off, and slap a different output shaft on.
