Holley 4160 ??Egr?

 Ok so i ran the numbers and I have a Holley 4160 600 cfm. That should be fine for a 305 should it not? Also its stock .. I wish to get the best mileage possible.. what are the smallest jets possible with this combo? I removed all the computer stuff from the lg4, I plan on using the holley and an HEI distributor.. I was told I may get issues with spark knock blocking off the egr (as i plan to be so cheap, im going to use the stock 4bbl intake and a good adapter plate) any truth to this? Thanks

If you don't run egr you won't be able to run as much advance without getting spark knock.  But what does that really mean?  Will you get better fuel economy or performance with or without?  I don't know, but I'm not sold on the benefits of egr other than reduced emmissions.  At stock advance, which is very mild, you won't get spark knock even without it.
