Engine Rebuild
« on: January 01, 2012, 10:21:08 pm »
So, I was chaning the oil pan gasket one day, and I noticed a crack in my rear main cap. Here are a few pictures of the removal and tear down.

Can I see a pic of the cracked main cap?

I have never seen one.

Is your block good to go? Are you planning on replacing the cap, and align boring/honing?

BTW, Thank you for your service Marine, Semper Fi.

Actually, i tried to put the picture up. but for some reason my computer is being stupid and it will not allow me to. Yes the machine shop i used had a ton of extra main caps for my block, so they just cleaned it up and put it all together, line bored it and honed it, acid dipped it installed new cam bearing. polished up the crank and cleaned up the rotating assembly. had the heads cleaned up and a 3 angle valve job done.

And thank you, I in cali. right now getting ready to leave for afgan. truck is at shop in texas. trying to get it done before i ship out so i can enjoy driving it before i leave.
