Front Drive Shaft Splines

I have a 1985 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe 400 Small Block TH400 W/NP208 GM10 bolt on front and rear.

my front driveshaft splines are stripped what could cause this problem i grease the yolk every oil change any suggestions??

     My guess would be binding of some kind ( the front not able to turn and the driveshaft kept turning).  I believe I saw in your other post that you have the same gears (3.73:1) front and back.
     I would check your truck under flex (both sides ) to make sure the front is not binding.

Age and or wear will cause this. They do wear out, plus you don't know how the previous owner took care of it?
Grease something all you want if its allready worn out its not going to fix it.

If there was any mud or sand that wound up on the spline shafts, it would just help to accelerate the wear.

Thanks to all the replies i have purchased a new drive shaft with good splines im gonna change all the joints and install but i have question i noticed someone mentioned sand and mud wear them faster i have some old shocks with boots on them would it be a good idea to steal a boot and cover my slide yolk with it?

     While you were at it, I would replace the seals in the axle tubing also (the ones that the axle shafts go through), if your seals are bad, new axles won't last very long.
