Are the inner cab corners really necessary?

I guess this is a stupid question since GM wouldn't throw something in just for the heck of it, but what purpose do the inner cab corners serve?  If they're really necessary I'll replace 'em, but I just feel it's $50 that would be better spent on other panels.

I don't think I would leave them out, although I'm sure you can get by without them.  The cab corners kind of hang out there and need the support I think.  I was able to bend a piece of metal and make the bottom 3" of one of mine and butt weld it in place.  Are yours completely toast, or just the bottom?

If you don't have an inner cab corner, you'd be open to the outside air then.
When looking into the corner from the inside of the cab, there is the hole that goes down into the cab corner cavity.
The inside and outside cab corners make up this box down there. If you don't have both, you'd be open to the heat or cold from the outside.
Unless I'm not understanding what you're saying.

Man, you don't need them. I cut mine off and didnt put new ones on, & I didn't know there was a small open space there until now.
if it's -34 here and I can't tell the difference, you can probably do without. I find all mine did was just create a space to collect snow and road salt, which I can easily remove now if it builds up. The rigidity isn't affected that much, mine are solid. I just think if you want to save $50, you may as well lol
