radiators... opinions
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:58:32 pm »
My brand new, recently purchased, recently installed 2 row oversized radiator now has a crack. It's on the plastic portion of the radiator. I've only put probably 300 miles on it. I've put some JB WELD on for now, and I know it probably won't last long. I have the old copper one still laying around. I'm sure it has some crud on the inside, so I don't want to re-install that one if I can avoid it. For now, I'm going to save up some money and buy an all aluminum. It's not my daily driver, so I can wait a while. What's a good website/store/place to pick one up for a decent price? I'm not looking to spend $300-500. I just think that's outrageous for a radiator. By the way, avoid Spectra Premium radiators, happens to be the brand I picked up from Summit. What do you think about these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ALL-ALUMINUM-RADIATOR-1973-1986-CHEVY-TRUCK-3-ROW-1-CUSTOMER-SERVICE-/270894874015?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1974|Make%3AChevrolet|Model%3AC10+Pickup&vxp=mtr&hash=item3f1297bd9f

I dont know if this is the same place, but this is the same radiator I got, with dual fans. I have no problems with it.

I am not a hugh fan of the radiators with plastic on them, seems like either you never have problems with them or you always do.  Not a gamble I want to take.

#2: There is no such thing as impossible, it just takes longer.

AutoZone (I know, I know) has a radiator for our trucks P/N CU730, for $162.99.

28.25"x19"x2.5" 2 row core. This is the big radiator that fits the 454 trucks. Only thing bigger is the 81+ diesel radiators.

It has a lifetime warranty. I was going to buy this radiator for my '77 K-30 until I deceided to use a factory GM radiator from a '89 K1500 instead.
