Oh, any suggestions? I want to buy one as ready as possible, so I don't have to deal with adjusting everything. Due to Swedish laws, I must have fuel injection, lambda/catalytic cleaning, and I refuse to go smaller than 454", at least. I didn't actually check, but the previous owner said that it had been 350"/350 in it, but that it was changed for a 307" and another 350 transmission over the years.

what about one of these? not a big block, but it conforms to CARB, makes good power, and they're fairly all inclusive.

Actually, an LS7 would do, and I suppose it would be a LOT easier than the Ram-Jet. It's a small block, but 427 is a classic big block size anyway.

I guess I will always be a bigblock fan just because of the simple brute force they produce. I like the LS based engines, I have 3 -5.3s in the shop right now for future projects, but in my opinion they don't look as good or sound as good and the rumble of a bigblock. The ones I have are for cruisers, but everything I have that I want to romp on will be a bigblock.
I've been seeing 4L80s recently for $400-$500, may look closer into those bit what does it take to run them with an old school setup?

Hollow the only thing that comes to mind is that 555 that edelbrock and musi did, there's got tto be more complete options, but I don't know a ton about swedish standards for emissions lol.

For the 4l80, there are various standalone transmission control units available. For that cheap plan on a rebuild or holding one for me, lol, I can't convince myself to spend 2 grand on a gear vendors.

The 555 is great! The only problem is that we have a 201 hp/1000 kg rule as a maximum. With the current official weight of the car, I am allowed to have 462 hp... If I can raise the weight of the car to the maximum driver license limit (without having a truck permit, you cannot drive anything over 3 500 kg) I can have 547 hp. I have to prove it by showing dyno papers and stuff, and I am not allowed to really have a "home built" engine, it must be some sort of standard engine, even if it's high performance. The weight of the car they get by just weighing it, so I am sure that the bigger gas tank I have will help, some extra weight with a bigger engine and transmission, heavier stuff in general, air ride system etc. Of course, it's possible to cheat, but the car official has 165 hp... IF i should cheat I prefer to start cheating at 505 hp and an LS7 than from 165 hp.  8)

Well, after a lot of thinking, checking (and crying  8)) I think i gotta go for the LS1 with 4L60E, to buy it used as a ready package here. Compared to with overseas it's expensive, but still half the price or less of anything else, and the only way i can be sure to get it past the authorities. I can connect the original "steering wheel shift stick" (what is the actual name in English???) to the 4L60E? 350 is too small for a Suburban, but that's what my car actually came with from the day that it was born in Flint, Michigan.  8)
