73 C30 Dually

I have a 1973 C30 2WD long wheelbase flatbed.  It has the original 7.50x16 tube type dual tires and wheels on it.
I'm thinking I should switch to some later 16" tubeless rims and tires and get rid of the tubes and rims with the locking ring.  The local tire shop will still work on the tube rims or I have done it myself, but in the long run I think it might be best to do the switch.
The selection in 7.50x16's appears to be limited and then you have to deal with potential flats, tube problems, flaps, etc.

What later model 16 rims would fit? Will they be hard to find in salvage yards?  If I go running around to the junk yards should I take along one of my rims?

The original rims appear to be hub-centered and the studs are 9/16".  There is a steel backing plate behind the lug nuts and the lug nuts are the conical type.

Is the size of the center hub pilot hole the only thing that matters?  Were different stud sizes used on the various years?  Since they use the backer plate does the size of the bolt holes even matter?

Lastly, if I locate 6 rims should I use 215R16 tires or would 235R16 fit without the duals rubbing?

The center section needs to be as least as big as yours, and the bolt pattern is what you need.   Lets say you have 8 lug nuts, you would measure from center of #1 to center of #3 ( does not matter where you start to count the studs), let's say this is 5" apart.
So you would have 8x5 wheel bolt pattern. ( most of the jeeps I build are 5 x 5 1/2, 5 lug nut studs and 5 1/2" apart ).
I am not sure which vehicles will match yours, but with this information, and what width of rim you need, you can find the rims that will fit your truck.
Good luck and keep us posted.  Someone else might know exactly what vehicles might fit your truck.

Try a later model C-30.  i don't know what years are interchangeable, but on my old K-20, it was just about any 8 lug wheel. (single)

I'm assuming a factory dual, and not something rigged up with spacers and what-not.  My '86 is running 235/85-16 and that may be the factory size.  (Just checked glovebox tag, calls for 7.5-16)

My plow was half price if i took the truck with it.
