I hate them but just about every parts truck I buy has one.
I save them all, other people love them and they do sell.

Probably had at least 100 of the 73-87's over the years, not one ever had one.  I have had trucks that had signs of one being on it but I look at is a big wind catcher.  I don't like bug deflectors either of whatever what goes behind the cab are called and goes to the bed or aluminum running boards.  But 2 each is own.  Some don't like toppers no matter what but a tasteful one that fits is OK with me.  I prefer the looks without but they sure come in handy at times. My $.02  and visor only has one s in it...

They serve no purpose other than looks.
The only reason I have one on my truck is that it had one before. I like the look myself but I also like the look without them. When mine went missing the only thing that bothered me is that somebody took it. I was fine with the new cab not getting one. When it showed up at the back door of the garage it took me 4 days to decide if it was going on. I had it duct taped to the roof and asked everybody what they thought, the results were that it looked like my truck again with it. A bonus for me was that I thought the amber lights would look good with my new paint color.
Drilling holes in your roof is the downside for me. Make sure that you are certain you want one before you install it. And do it correctly or it will leak and ruin your cab.

Everybody has different taste when it comes to these trucks and if they were all the same it would be a boring hobby. To me they look good on lifted 4wd trucks but I don't like the look on a stock or lowered 2wd truck.

Depends on the "look" of the truck some trucks just wouldn't look right with one. They are functional , helps keep snow and ice off the windshield  in winter. and they do keep the sun out of your eye.

I really think they only look good on 4x4's with a mild lift ,  and only 81-91 trucks they look out of place on the 73-80's

$50.
It also helps to have them around while selling other parts. If someones trying to beat me up on the price of a tranny I will toss in a visor to get the full price.

I've put them on other trucks in the past and i may put on with lights on my 85 but still undecided on if i will or not.  But i agree they look good on lifted trucks more then stock or lowered trucks.  razorbacks are in the same category more with the lifted trucks.

Thirsty,
When I head north to check out your wood stove I'll bring some visors to trade for a front row seat

Cool... if we can get Vile to come too we can duct tape one to his rig after he has a few beers!  :o

Everybody wants a front row seat at first then they realize why the chairs are moved back so far.

That's a big negatory on the visor action, Western Hauler.

Thirsty, if that ever happens I will send you money just to see vile's truck with a visor on it.  Better than the price of admission to the movies.   ;D  Though I need a pic of vile's face when he comes outside, that would be classic.  >:(
