Hello from İstanbul \ Turkey
« on: February 11, 2012, 06:01:57 pm »
Hi dear friends. I am Kenan from Turkey. I have a 1980 C10 Custom Deluxe. Im working since 2008 february on the truck. Its not easy to get the parts . Lot of the replacements are from different wrecks. And its always used and three times expensiver as in the states . I also buyed Some small new parts from   truck ant Rockauto. But the delivery costs are more than the order  :-\Dthis summer i hope i finish it. Maybe some of you can give me tips when im trouble.  Now i make a billet grill for the truck by myself. I will upload pictures in the next days.

See ya..!

Lots of stuff in these trucks can be fabricated, which is muy bueno. Also, once you get it together right, and don't abuse it too badly, they can really last a long long time. I had a '74 model that got little mechanical attention, and drove it from '87 until I sold it in 2000. Poor thing even got me from NM to AL with no breakdowns.
It was also a great truck for be-bopping around the high plains and canyonlands where I grew up.

istanbul? not constantinople?

The anncient name was constantinopolis because it was the capital of the east roman emperium.
Since 1453 the name is Istanbul.
