C10 spindle?
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:59:54 pm »
Does anyone know if new spindle / knuckle assembly is available for C10 truck. My buddies truck needs one, his son kept driving it after the wheel bearing had issues. Now the spindle is junk. A used one will work, but he would just assume buy a brand new one providing the price isn't and arm, and a leg.

The GM numbers I have show the same spindles were used from 73 on up through 87 on pickups.  They also seem to be applicable to the G-series vans.  But I think it may be a discontinued item from GM.

You might ask Capt. Kaos about them as well. I'd also check GM and double check the part numbers, it could be they were superseded and I don't have the most recent number.

Otherwise, you can get pairs of stock height (or lowering spindles) from Summit (stock height link):

You are looking for a spindle for a 2wd pickup?  Aren't they different depending on if you have 1" or 1 1/4" thick brake rotors?   I have the pair from my 86 with the 1" thick brake rotors.  You could have them if you were close, but shipping  would cost a fortune.  Im in northeast Nebraska.

I will pass that info on to him, thanks. I mentioned I knew you could by new lowering spindles, but this truck isn't worth lowering. Its just a good solid old truck 4.3 with an SM465.

If only it would have come up about 6 weeks ago, hard to see in the picture but the complete front frame section from a C10 went to the crusher, I would have been glad to send it your way...
