My new wallet draining project
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:03:43 pm »
I added another truck to the stable this weekend, 86 chevy crew cab. I have had my 87 burb since December of 88 and it is just about ready to turn over 300,000 miles. Love the dang thing! I always wanted a pickup and blazer of the same vintage just for fun, I want to paint them all the same with the same interiors. My burb is red with a white band and a grey interior. I picked up an 84 chevy pickup two years ago and its on its way to completion, its my drive to work truck. Last fall I picked up a nice 87 blazer that I am just putting a trans back in. I been looking into these cummins conversions the last few years and decided I needed to do one too. I decided I needed a  crew cab to round out the fleet. Picked up one last weekend from utah that is in really good shape and the right color too. Now I'm in the parts collecting mode for it. Its a 2 wheel drive but I am going to do a dana 60 4x4 swap to it as well as a 94 12 valve cummins with a 4l80e/241 trans/tcase. Will work good to haul the toys to the mountains with the family in tow as well as a nice cruiser. Now I will be picking everyone's brains on here for ideas as to how to make the nicest ride I can.

Wow, you have quite the stable there. Looks great !!

I hardly have enough time for one truck rebuild let alone multiple ones.
I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress.

What's next ?   :)

The crew cab pic is the one from the ad. It was a better pic than my cell phone pics so I posted it. It was dark when we picked it up so I dont know what it was for sure. I have a thing for red vehicles, have two red and white chevy farm trucks, a red 94 chevy 6.5, a red 69 AMX, a red 72 vette, a red 98 caddy eldo, o and a red 90 geo tracker with a v dub 1.6 turbo diesel. Thats my little chase around vehicle in the summer.

I agree, very nice gathering.  You don't say, I would have never guessed you liked red and white vehicles.   8)
