Hello from Afghanistan on this awesome fat tuesday,
  Name's Jacky and i'm deployed to 'stan but will be returning in April to really start wrenching away on my '77.  I love this truck...my dad bought it for me when I was 17 and i'm now 31 so theres a lot of sentimental value...plus I love the shape/look of these trucks and how easy they are to customize.

Just wanted to say that I've been a member for a few weeks now and have been silent to read some posts and I must say this forum is far and away the best.  i like the no swearing rule...I do swear in my personal life, in the military i think its a requirement, however, i've read on a few other forums and it seems the members quickly degenerate into middle-schoolers...anyway looking forward to getting to know everybody and although i dont have questions now i'll be looking for support in April and May..

no pics of my truck yet..i only have access to government computers so i cant upload any pics to the site but when i get home i'll be sure to upload some...in the mean time i'll see if my wife can upload some for me

When I was in Bolixi at Keesler AFB those c-130s would start up and shake everything in the dorm I was in.  One time I was with a Chief Master Sergeant and we went to get a c-130 for repairs, we found it and right by it was an instructor teaching a bunch of young lutenits diffrent things right by it.  If I remember correctly the instructor was a major, but I'm not sure.  The Chief told the instructor politely that we was going to take that plane in for repair that we was going to be starting it up and creating a lot of wind.  The instructor was rude in return so the Chief called his superior officer who happened to be a 1 star General.  The General basically said sorry about there luck and get that plane here now.  So we started it up and took it where we needed it and blew there papers all over the place.  The instructor came to the hanger as the Chief was teaching me what to look for and started chewing us out.  The General walked out and asked what was going on.  The instructor angerly told the General what happened and the General said "When he told you he was sent to get that plane you should of listened then because I told him to get here now."  The instructor did the walk of shame on the way out of that hanger that day.  That General and the Chief where both very nice people.  The General told me to never do something like that with out being ordered to by someone who out ranks the guy standing in your way.  I still smile everytime I think of that story and everytime I see a c-130 I think of that.  That was back in 96 or 97. I thought you guys would like that story.

Yes Sir, Ive been in a few, luckily no tires popped. Im amazed at the power they have. Shooting straight up in the air after take off. Same goes for the C-17. Not so fond of helos-at least without having a view of the ground. Saw a couple Marines who used their Kevlar helmets for other uses.

I dont remember what craft I was in, but I told the crew chief of a small leak dripping next to me. He said it was ok as long as it was leaking, and to tell him when it stopped...

Never ride in a chinook that isn't leaking hydraulic fluid, that means it's out.

I've never been in one where the tire popped either, even after running over a coyote...had several hydraulic leaks...got to stay 8 days in Newfoundland cause of a leak.
I've always wanted a ride in a helo...one of these days hopefully i will, but thanks for the tip on the hydraulic leak.
