The adventures of YELLOW SNOW!!

Got a little stuck yesterday!
Power steering belt must have got some snow / moisture under it. Threw it off and I got sucked into the ditch. Got it back on, and tried to back out. Could only back up about a foot. But I could go forward about 10 feet. Then I could back up 4 or 5 feet, but got the rear end farther out in the toolies. Then I gave her some skinny pedal and went about 25 feet forward, and got even farther out in the puckies! By this time I was 30 plus feet past where I had stopped plowing. Gave it to her once more in reverse, got the rear end way off the road, then gave her some more to go forward. After getting aboput 45 degrees to the road, this is where it stopped! There is a gray birch about 2 inches from the rear bumper, couldn't go back, I tried. The strength of the tree was greater than my traction!
My ex girl friends uncle came and dragged me out with hi backhoe. He lives about 300 yards as the crow fles from where I got stuck.
After it was out.

Need some weight in the back of that truck Blazin.
I only wonder if you had weight in the back if it would have crawled out of the ditch after you fixed the belt. Glad to hear your truck is ok though, could have been worse.

I have never run weight in the back of any of my plow trucks unless its icy. Then I put a little sand in. When I plow with the 1 ton I leave the spreader empty. Don't think it would have got out even with weight.
This snow we got was the type that as soon as you spun on it it turned to ice. Was just wet enough, and just warm enough temp out.
A little sand might have helped under the tires here but the ditch is a little deeper then it looks in the pics too.

That's one way to test your new rear axle.

Just another day in the life of Yellow Snow!
Glad you didn't get in deep enough to add backwoods pin striping down the side of it.

Now that you mention it you are right. I didn't give it a second look because I know the truck but maybe to visitor or newbie, I could see?

I wasn't sure what I was in for when I first read the title. I kinda laughed when I first read it as well so I had to look.

Put some light pinstripes in the dirt on the side of the truck. The last time I backed up before I gave it the skinny pedal to get where it is in the pic, I wouldn't have been able to open the door because of the birch that is behind it in the pic.
I was close enough that I had to re adjust the mirror when I was done!

I see him 5, or 6, sometimes 7 days a week. He owns the property / building where I work. We are still pretty close, treats me like family. I can borrow the backhoe if I need it, just put fuel in it. I try not to take advantage of that to often. I also clean it from top to bottom when ever I borrow it. I knew he was outside cutting wood with the hoe all warmed up!
I have chains, but they can tear up an axle in a hurry. If I had them with me I would have layed them out. If I hadn't been able to get a hold of him I would have layed my tow chains down. Have done that before under a propane trucks wheels.
