Center-Hump mounted Stereo
« on: February 26, 2012, 11:40:54 am »
Posted about this in another thread and someone asked for some pics so here we are.

Wife didn't want me to cut the dash for a DIN stereo so i decided to get one of the universal mount boxes, after trying it all over the dash I decided to mount it upside down in front of the 4x4 selector, came out pretty well.

Still need to clean up the wiring behind and add two more speakers, also had to extend the antenna wire out

I hope there is a remote for it, don't want to be bending over when driving trying to mess with it.   ;)

Where in the world did you get that. This truck is sentimental to my wife and I fully understand and thus I couldn't cut up my dash either nor did I really want to. I made mine out of 1/2 ply wood. Despite the fact that I started the project months ago I haven't completed it by fiberglassing it and painting it. I didn't know they had a universal box out there. Then again I never searched for one because i just like making stuff.

That mount was in my buddies 71 Newport Custom, I don't know where he got it from.  I wonder how it would look on top of the dash over the center speaker.

I got it from BestBuy, I had to ask the guy that does their audio-installation and he grabbed one out of the back for me but it was only 20 bucks

I may have to do this with mine.  Who ever cut the hole in my dash cut it way to big.  I was going to try and add some metal to the radio hole but this looks easier.
