350 value?

I just recently bought a running and driving '79 k10 as a parts truck. It was damaged by a tornado, I bought it because it is an all original matching, unchanged very mechanically sound rig. So I have been making a list of what to swap to my truck and what to add to my stock on the shelves. At the same time I'm trying to price out the rest to sell off. So I'm stuck right now trying to figure out if I want to put the motor on a stand and introduce it to my inventory, or if it's worth selling? The motor is all original 350 4barrel still in its factory glory, untouched and still purring like a kitten. My question is,would you keep this thing or sell it? If I sold it, what would something like this bring? I don't even know where to begin with a price. Just trying to feel it out. Any two cents would be helpful.

All in all you are asking a very subjective question.

Do you have the space to keep the 350?  Are you going to be moving anytime soon?  Do you have a need for the 350 (now or in the future)?  What is the condition of the engine?

If you think you may have a need for it in the future, it might be worth  keeping the engine. This would be especially true if for example it was an untouched 60,000 mile engine or you want a good block for a future engine build.

If you you don't need it and/or want to sell it, the value will be determined upon what you want to get out of it and what someone is willing to pay.  If you don't care much to keep it and want to let it go, a good core engine can be worth a few hundred dollars. However, if you can prove that everything is good you might be able to get substantially more...

      You need to check locally and see what engines are selling for.  1 word of advice, if you sell it leave it in the truck for now running and sell it so people can see and hear it run, that will always bring you more money if they can run it and test compression and so forth.
     In my opinion, if I was looking at it and could actually see, hear, and test what I wanted, for a stock 350 that has been untouched, I would pay $500.00 - $700.00 depending on condition, if I see any evidence of previous leaks and so forth that would determine where in the price range I would pay.
     Like I said, if at all possible, sell it now if you want while in truck and still running, will bring more money.
