ODD PAINT CODE CANDY RED 72L
« on: March 01, 2012, 04:53:31 pm »
Im re-painting my truck this spring and wanted to do it original, but my problem is that there is no build sheet in my glove box or anywhere under the hood that I can find. The only thing I have found is the service sheet on the inner fender and it says that my colour is "Candy Red" OPTION NO. 72L. Ive googled it a thousand times and know Candy Red isnt an OEM colour for Chev. So whats the deal? I also found out that Code 72 is Bright Red which IS a Chev colour. Why would my service sheet say Candy Red?
Most commonly asked question when I drive around.. Is that your dads truck? NO!

Option 72 color in 1984 is PPG 3464 Bright Red, GM called it Apple Red.  Not sure where Candy came from as none of the manufactures used "candy" paint, all of it was single stage or BC/CC.
