Wheel Hop

I have a 84 SB K10 that seems to have a problem. I will drive the truck down the road, hit a small bump in the road and the back tires feels like they are hopping, Hard to control the truck till I slow down. I thought it was the shocks so I replaced them. My son said it still happening so now I stuck. Am i missing something?

Shocks would be the obvious culprit, so give us a little more info and maybe we can spot a pattern that way.

Is it a steady bounce like a tire? Or is it a more rapid, or inconsistent sensation like a spring ocillation?

Tire size?

Any lift?

Original springs?

Have you tried rotating the tires? It isn't as big of a problem as it used to be, but radial tires can, and do break belts from time to time. If you rotate the tires and the problem stops, you can isolate the issue to one of either of the tires. If the problem lags you know you have a suspension issue.

No lift, Factory springs, 31" tires, 35 psi. Feels like the wheel is hopping

     Do as engineer said, rotate the tires from back to front and drive and report.  If the hopping now appears to be in the front is defiantly tire issue.  If still in rear, check suspension parts, look at shock mounts, springs mounts/bushings,  also check the spring packs themselves for breaks (you can not always see cracks in the springs), but if you jack up the back and take some of the weight off the rear end, it might show you if a spring pack is busted in one of the middle ones.

Does this occur with acceleration or braking?  Mine did the bumpty bump but it was with braking. The culprit was a frozen caliper and a warped rotor.
