my trucks you usually have to use some force to close them, this being said i know its cause of bad hinges or misaligned/worn striker bolts but i just dont take the time to fix them. but when i was a kid im used to riding in old chevys so we would have to slam the door. then you rid in a friends truck and you go to slam or use some force you can just tell by how the door moves out of your hand, you just cringe and wait to hear it slam. what really gets me is when people online use cap in a sentence lol.

I don't disagree with people showing respect for your stuff especially one of these trucks which if you're anything like me put countless hours into making perfect. You can just as easily tell someone who doesn't respect your stuff you're done with them and end the friendship. Retaliating and in turn going inside someone's home to slam their door so hard you're breaking stuff IS immature and you can't deny that. You could just as easily have made your point without retaliation. This is when things can get escalated to the point where it gets out of control. I have a lot of self control but if someone came into my house and did that they'd be crossing the line. The last place you ever disrespect another man is inside his own home. I hope this guy didn't have kids inside the house.

its simple, if he keep slamming your door dont let him in the truck. people know no smoking in my car if they want to smoke find another ride or wait till we get out

Only reason that particular guy was in my truck that long... I PROMISED my boss I'd make sure he had a ride to work, those 2 weeks, as if he didn't show up boss would have lost money.

I do have to admit what I did was immature.  I will right now.   But I don't regret it.  Immature can be relative.  I was stuck with him and his demenor, while I was helping him out, I was mainly helping my boss.  When I get thumbed that bad and am stuck, I can get immature.

The argument is along the lines of don't go down to their level, but there's some poeple who don't get it until given what they gave back.  I try to take the high road as much as much as I can, but some poeple get my goat...  and then there's only one question;  will the police show up and charge me with anything?  if not, game on.  if so, game on a lot less than that...

I didnt put up what i did to that guy to show off so much as to show how much those people get to me.  I fix things for a living, at work, home, for friends, etc.  I just see too much of people bulling their ways through anything and guys like me always have to clean up the mess.   I just don't relish wasting time and money fixing my passenger doors' inner workings because of someone like that.

I did shoot down my mom some in the first post....  but I have to say, she slamms the crap out of her own car door, and my grandads car door (which she drives a lot with him)  But she tries so hard not to do it to mine and my dads truck.

She actually brought this up today...  surprised me, cuz she dont ever wanna hear it...  She noted that when she does forget and does slam my door, I don't ever say anything to her, OR TO most other people who slip up aometimes.  a slip up is fine.  even I sometimes slip up and slam it by accident when the windows are down or something.  I never even say anything to people who slip up once in a while....  only those who do it every time and act like im a jerk for mentioning it or calling them on it.   That's the main point of this post, is people who dont care and call me a jerk for caring about my truck, which is the first NICE vehicle I ever got to actually finish.  But even when I used to drive Piece of craps, they were dang ugly, but mechanically tip-top.  I'd have gotten just as ill at slamming my crappy doors as these on the truck.  because while the slammers are out fishing or something, I'm at home rebuilding my door because they don't care even a little.

What made me notice this the most, is I gave my mother my Focus since I have my truck and she needed a cheap car.  Well since she got it, it's had 2 window regulators, the main power window switch twice and a door handle installed.  all in the drivers door.  the other 3 doors and truck are tip-top, but even now when you close the drivers door, no matter how softly, it rattles like crazy.  I dont say nothing to her about her car, except jokingly, which doesnt bother her in the least. (she truly dont care)  but she doesnt slam my door and makes sure not to skin up the paint behind the door handle with her fingernails.  she tries...  thats all i ask...   don't have to be perfect always, accidents happen.  my buddies make an effort though.  when they slip up I dont say a word to them.   Guess besides careless  the guy i mentioned is lazy.  one answer I got to why you slam doors was, well it might not shut all the way and I'd have to do it again...  that's ok.  it takes 0.345 seconds to do it again.  have at it....lol

Actually, there looks like a cheap mod to possibly solve the problem in this thread:

Just reread this post....   I can be childish if I think it calls for it.  I hang around lots of peoples' kids so I can say nah nah boo boo, and infinty+1  n such.   this guy deserved it to me though, and he was a single guy living alone, I wouldn't have done that in front of kids.  I'd have found another way.  just when he looks you in the eye and slams your door anyway....  well i can get childish, and if he wants to fight about it?  thats his problem.    :)

Remember the line from Field of Dreams, "Build it, and they will come....?"  Intend it hard enough by putting the thought out there and it 'might' return for a visit.  It's the other guy's cesspool... let him swim in it.  No need for you not to enjoy dry, sunny skies.  Happy days!   :)

ROFL!! You slammed the door on his house that's hilarious dude! Haha

Yeah I'm about half the age of most of these guys so I'm immature. Sure. But I hear ya. I freaking hate crappy doors that don't shut right so one of the first things I had to do when I got my 87 was fix the doors. Now of course they shut quite easily. But people see beat up old truck, and they slam. I've had to tell the wife a time or two but she learned. And I know I'll get every bit as nasty as you once I build my doors from the ground up. Its the disrespect that gets ya.

What gets me though, is they'll slam door on new stuff too. I have a 94 'stang that I love every bit as much as my truck and as such, have poured blood, sweat and lots of money into that thing as well. And its a newer looking car that to look at it, you just know you don't have to slam the doors, or the trunk. ESPECIALLY the trunk. That trunk will just about shut itself. And you'd have to hear it but when someone slams it, it reverberates through the whole car to the point that it can't be the actual sound generated by the slamming trunk. Its resonating or something and being amplified. Boy that gets my blood boiling real fast and I'll yell at people lol

I have found ONE exception to this rule.   MY MOTHER SLAMS THE CRAP out of my truck doors when she rides with me.  I figure, she knew my truck 3 years before I was born, but besides that, THATS MY MOM.  I Don't have it in me to $#@% her out.  It'll NEVER happen.  I don't even mention it to her anymore, because it makes her feel bad.  If my mom slams my door hard enough a speaker pops out, she'll never EVER hear about it.   The rest of ya...   I'll get my revenge on ya... ;)  I'd say my Dad too, but he's like I am on this subject, so he's as gentle as possible on my truck, as I am his.  Mom don't care about no car except the point A to point B thing.  That's my mom, She gets an exception.   It's like the old saying (except for mom)  IN God WE TRUST! EVERYONE ELSE PAYS CASH!   ha!
