Trouble finding HIDS

I have a 83 that I been trying to find HIDS for, and I been looking for months and havent been able to find anything. I cant even find where to get the assemblies for the bulbs. Ive seen people have HIDS in their square bodies. Where is everybody finding them at?

It depends on how you want to do it. You won't find a bolt in kit for your truck. It's a sealed beam light. HIDs are a composite bulb. Which means the bulb is separate from the housing and lens. Pilot and hella make conversion housings for composite style using H3 bulbs. Then you can just get an H3 HID kit. Or, like others have done. Get the housing and retrofit fit in a late model projector style HID lamp into the housing. This can take a bit of work and skill though. The first option is the easiest for sure. I can get you some part numbers in the morning. Hope this helps a little.

Here's a link to the Hella ones on summit. They're a bit more expensive than the pilot ones. But, they're glass compared to plastic.

To do it right is gonna be very expensive.  HID's need specially designed Projector Lens' in order to create the linear cutoff so oncoming drivers are not blinded.  How much are you really willing to put towards this project?  That alone will determine whether you should undertake this kind of mod.

Untrue. If you follow the link to Insidious' install, you'll see he did it right for under $40 per light. You just have to know how to shop. Wrecking yards are a great place to pick up projectors which can be made to fit in some quality aftermarket lenses. Everyone seems to think that HID projectors are a huge expense. They can be, if you throw your money out there without doing any research.
