High Impact Transmission & Gear Reviews ???
« on: April 02, 2012, 09:28:47 pm »
Has anyone had any dealings or experence with High Impact Transmission & Gear products.

I am considering there Ranger Overdrive Gear Splitter for my 77 GMC K25. This truck has 4:56 gear which does great for my hauling & Towing here in mountain country but would like to be able to pull the second shifter for the Ranger unit & cruise at highway speeds as well. I have no experence with this item or company. Ranger unit claims to be capable of handle 420 ft lb of torque. Anyone familar with this item or company, or have any other suggustens. Thanks in advance!

The ranger overdrive is owned by advance adapters. You might want to check out their information regarding the OD box.  While I do not have ranger, I have thought some about it.  What I have read is that they do have some gear noise.  Good luck.

Thanks I will check them out. I have also read that there was some gear niose, as long as it isn't to crazy I could handle it.

If my off roading days, I have talked to 3 or 4 people who had these installed on different vehicles.  While none of them were over excited about them, not one was complaining either.

With a $1300+ price tags its not a cheap solution. I really like the way the truck is set up with the 4 speed & 4:56 gears, works out really well for local driving it is all mountian secondary roads mainly with in 20 miles of me where I do most of the driving with my truck. Pulling trailors & hauling it does awesome, I am even happy with what off roading I do with it. Just looking for a solution for when I need to go to Lowes & such where I need to get on the 4- lane, & would be less limited to when & where I would like to take this truck. Me & my youngest son also enter in some local truck pulls nothing serious but it would open the door for me maybe willing to go farther to some County fairs & compete as well.
