Need some help, lowering question
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:36:02 pm »
Hi guys,

I just got done lowering my 81 Chevy 4/6. I used 2" drop spindles and 2" drop coils up front and flip kit and shackles in the lower hole out back.

Now the problem: the front is higher than the back. As far as I can tell the springs are seated properly up front. I had drop shocks on it from when it was 2/4, could they be holding the front up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tyler

Your shocks can't hold the truck in a higher position. Using the other hole in your shackles will raise you maybe an inch in the rear or just go with the originial shackles. How much do you need the back to come up?

I didn't think the shocks would hold it up, but wanted to be sure. The back sits just about perfect,n28" at the top of wheel arch. The front is at 30".

You can't reference to the wheel arches, the front it higher than the rear, measure to the rocker, its straight front to rear.  The springs will settle a little bit. how long Have they been in?

Your old shackles will get you pretty close. I measured the wheel arch on mine as I wanted to give it a little rake and keep the wheel well gap the same. To me, a level truck looks too high in the front.
