The 98 454 is a GEN VI 4bolt main block, with a roller cam. Gen VI blocks are from 96-2000, and they made some improvement from the Gen v block. The Gen VI doesn't have the provision for a fuel pump, so you will have go the electrice pump route. Yes you can use the Gen IV heads on the Gen VI block, It just takes a special head gasket to make it work. Cometic head gaskets C5335-066. I have a 1999 GEN VI 454 bored +.030, 11:8.1 compression, with 1974 781 heads, that have been worked, the block has been machined to accept a 4.375 crank from a 2002 8.1 liter BB. The engine puts out 625hp & 685TQ all under 5500 RPM, it is a TQ monster. It is in my 66 Chevelle.
