Full time 4x4,want 2wd

IM BACK  i havent been on in a lonnng time,
 any way i have a 77 K10 350 th350 full time 4x4 12 bolt rear end GM 10 front

   
i took the front drive shaft off to save gas and puts around town,front drive shaft is off and i cant move,jacked the back tires up put it in drive and they move but need to tromp a lil,but they all move with the front hooked up..am i doing sumthing wronge or is my transfercase broke(i doubt but never know)

Your t-case, a NP203 is an all wheel drive t-case. If you remove the front drive shaft if will act as an open rear end with one tire off the ground. You need a part time kit for the 203 and preferentially locking hubs.

A variety of other hubs will work but those are lower on the cost spectrum and work well.

Hi loc is it all the way forward or all the way back....im not used to my truck i just got it running while back and replaced all the bady parts and lost the shift indicator that tells me where 4low loc and N is lol

Not a 4x4 kind of guy and the last time I was in a truck with a full time transfer case was my buddy's 78 K5 Blazer over 26 years ago.  I just know if I ever went to a 4x4 that would be my choice.

     All the way forward/up toward front of truck.  This will work for now but I strongly suggest you look into a part time kit and locking hubs for the long run.

it already has the front locking hubs....the person i got it from died then it went to his cuzin and he dosnt know anything about the truck,the reason i have it is becouse he rolled my 4-wheeler and toataled it out so he gave me the truck...but its a 1977 K10 full time 4x4 lock out hubs up front sits kinda high for no lift,it has 33,s on it now when i got it there was leaf springs in the back,so i dont know what all has been replaced or anything...i replace the front pinion seal in the diferental and the parts guy said it was for a 3/4 pickup But my rims only have a 6 bolt patern...this truck is really confusing me

Putting lock out hubs on a full time transfer case that hasn't gotten the part time kit in it will not allow it to move with the driveshaft out. There is a differential in the transfer case and it sends power to the end that slips, ie the end that doesn't have the driveshaft in it.  The lock lever engages a collar and locks both ends together.

Just order a part-time conversion kit for the NP203 and locking hubs on the front.

The part time kits are fairly easy to install and will give you a real 2 Hi position as well as a 2 Lo position.

The NP203 is not a bad transfer case, it's really heavy duty and as a full time transfer case it will perform very well. Problem arise, as so many people prefer a part time transfer case. When converted, the NP203 is not operating as it was designed. When operating as a full time case, the internal pump would move oil all over the t-case and keep it well lubricated.

After a conversion to part time operation the NP203 will operate as a part time case, but it needs to be operated routinely in 4wd with the hubs locked to ensure the t-case gets properly lubricated. The lubricant should always be motor oil (e.g. 10W-40) and not gear oil (e.g. 85W-90).
