Intrigued
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:34:09 pm »
Hey everyone

I've been trying to find out as much as I can about how these trucks work and this forum has a lot of good information. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to purchase a '73 C30 stepside (single cab long bed) from a friend later this year after baseball season. The first time a saw the truck my jaw dropped, and I knew I would love to have it. It's in good condition with only a little bit of rust. The engine is a 350 4 bolt main with 50,000 original miles! Apparently it was a fire department truck so it never really had many miles put on it. As you can tell, I'm extremely excited about it, and I want to fix it up and make it into a head turner. I'm hoping to gain a lot of knowledge on fixing vehicles and how everything works since I'm new to this area. I've always done things like changing my own oil and rotating tires, etc, but have not had the chance to really get in and work on a vehicle. So, until I purchase the vehicle I will be on here asking questions and reading about others' projects!

Cheers

Welcome to the site from California.  Sounds like you are going to get your dream vehicle.

Welcome from Alaska.  Sounds like a neat truck.  While you're hanging around the site and waiting for the truck, I'd suggest you go ahead and buy the factory service manual and start studying it.  Helm published it but you should be able to find a used one a lot cheaper than new.  Post up in the "Wanted to Buy" section; maybe a member has one that is no longer being used.

Thanks! And nope, not overseas. I travel all across the country for my job but not really across any borders. How does "cheers" give away being overseas? (I'm not up to date on a lot of things lol)

I'll definitely look into that. That would be so much fun for me to look at just in general!
