Here is a "general" answer to your "general" question:  Replace them if they are cracked, bent, or measure greater than the maximum inside diameter that is cast into the rim of the drum.

Is there any more to the story?

"General" answer Bd ?  I believe that covers all the reasons why you would replace the rear drums on any vehicle.  Oh wait, there is one more I forgot.  The other reason is if you have money to burn and can not check the first 3 mentioned.   ::)
