Any one running a 4 link set up in the rear?
« on: October 16, 2004, 12:56:00 am »
Hello all,

I'm new to the site.

I'm building up my 86 C10.

I'm running a mild Gen 5 454.
It has Gen 6 Vortec heads with a comp extreme energy 268 cam with a peformer rpm intake.

I've been thinking about going to a 4 link in the rear to make it corner better and hook up better.

I was wondering if anyone know much about it?

I'm mainly trying to get more traction and make it handle better.
Traction is sucks at the moment!! LOL

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,
Chad

I installed a tri-angulated 4-link in my 86c10 for purposes of baggin it. It hooks up nice and has good articulation. What exactly do you want to know, I might be able to answer 1 or 2 questions.

Thanks for the info Sano.

Kallaorf, thats kind of what I had in mind to keep it able to tow somethin evey now and then.

I looked at a few kits from Air Ride Tech and just wondered how the air bag system handled/hooked up.

Did you mount the 4 link set up on the outside of the frame?

Thanks for the reply's.

I used the tri-angulated kit from air ride...there Heavy duty unit...I'll get a part number here soon. I also used there F-9000 sleeved bags, it rides really nice, and so far has towed what I wanted it to tow. It has it normal towing capacity, which it still being a half-ton. The kit was not a specific kit for our style of truck, but it worked well with a few mods. I boxed the frame in from the first cross member to the point where the frame curves down towards the spare tire holder at the back of the frame. I had to weld in a cross member to hold my inner triangular bars that were welded to the outside of the pumpkin. My outer-lower bars were welded on the outside of the frame, exactly squared up with the front leaf spring perches holes. Some things go into consideration like ride height, bars being parellel with each other at ride height and stuff like that. It gets good articulation which is meant more for the bags but all in all it rides very well and handles awesome. If I missed something dont be afraid to ask and sorry for such a long wait on replying, I forgot about this post.
G/l man...seeya
