shifter mod in a buick
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:14:06 pm »
I found B&M Road Warrior ratchet shifter for my Buick. It is designed for a Turbo 400 trans in a Chevy truck. I need to know the length of a shift arm on this trans. A picture of one beside a ruler would be amazing. Thanx guys.

Sorry can't help you with a picture, however all may not be lost. What is it that you are wanting the picture for? All of the TH400 will rotate the same inside the trans to engage the gears...doesn't matter truck, car, whatever. The gate in the aftermarket shifter decides how far the cable moves.
None of our trucks had factory automatic floor shifter to my knowledge so a add-on bracket would come with the shifter to bolt on the gear selector shaft . If you didn't get it with yours, get in contact with B&M...I'm sure they can get you one.
One concern I have is I couldn't find any shifter called a "Road Warrior" searching on B&M's site. The basis of the shifter isn't "for" a Chevy truck (they are much more universal) only console models fit something like Camaro/Firebird or a Mustang so it looks factory once installed. Hope this helps, Lorne

OK, you are correct. The shifter is B&M Megashifter. Not sure where I got Road Warrior at. lol but the trans in my Buick is a front wheel drive 440T4. the shift arm on these thing only about 2 inches long, which is where my problem lies.
