Cab Swap 78 2wd to 77 4x4 frame
« on: May 23, 2012, 11:58:41 pm »
I know theres other topics about cab swaps, but not what i have...I have a 1977 K10 bad cab,and a 1978 2wd Good cab,Very lil rust.I want to take my 2wd cab and throw it on my 4x4.I know the 2wd hump is smaller and needs a 4x4 hump.I also THINK that the rear Cab bushings on a 2wd are smaller then the 4x4 rear cab bushing...I am going to get cab bushings soon so i can do this...My question is what bushings to i need for the cab and also would it be easier to buy a 2 inch body lift insted of cutting the hump out,I found a 2 inch body lift for $140 comes with bolts...I'm just stumped about this i really have no clue

This has been covered also.  You need cab bushings to match the frame application, the cab doesn't matter.

Doesn't matter if its a long or short wheel base, bushings are the same. Only differences are 73 to 80 bushings, and 81 to 87/91 bushings. The spot they sit on on the frame, and the rear cab mount / crossmember changed a little bit in 81. The 81 and up bushings won't fit the older frame. The older bushings will not fit the 81 or newer frame either. The cabs however are the same as far as the cab mount area.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
