Quite the opposite actually. To become a freemason, ask one. Invitations are forbidden by most grand lodges, its the responsibility of interested parties to seek out membership. Find the temple local to you, generally they'll have regular meeting days posted on or near the door, stop in a little before the meeting and introduce yourself. Each region has different ways of handling member inquiry, but if you're a walk in and don't know a mason in your area, they'll probably have you hang out with a couple guys on and off for awhile. You have to have two masonic references on your petition, and those references are speaking for your character, so they'll want to know you fairly well. Ask your friends if they're masons, you'd be suprised who says yes.

      My father was a free mason when he was alive, I almost became one but he died and life took me in a different direction.

Both my Dad and and late brother were Master Masons.  I just have never had the time or inclination.

lol so this is why i was never invited. i thought they just didnt like me. in del it seams like 1 out of 10 people are masons

To make a long story short, I was raised many yrs ago, but as time went by I couldn't justify calling anyone a Worshipful Master if it wasn't my Lord. So I dropped out of Freemasonry.
