Whatup y'all!
« on: June 13, 2012, 12:11:26 pm »
Hi everybody! My name is Wes, and I am out of Anchorage AK. Currently stationed there for the next couple of years-what an awesome place. When I got back from Afghanistan I picked me up an 84 Silverado 4x4. I am currently going through it, chassis and all. Lotsa rust, tell ya what! Anyways, this site has already been a ton of help on simple to complex topics. Looking forward to interacting with you all.
A bit about me:
AF EOD guy-I love my job but my first love has always been mechanics, more on the motor side. I was a Crown Lift tech for a few years before I joined the AF. Never regretted the day I left the 'job' side of mechanics. Growing up, my brother and I had 1970 El Camino's that we used to play with and race. Kind of got away from all of that when I shipped off, but recently been able to get back to my roots. Talk to you all soon!
Wes

Welcome from a fellow Alaskan, Wes.  I also am from Anchorage.  Unfortunately, not too many active members up here.  Difficult to do much up here unless you have a garage.  If you don't have a garage, does JBER have a hobby shop where you can work on your truck?

Thanks, Rusty-I do what I can out of my garage, while trying to keep a low profile; there is little we can do out of our garages, pretty much limited to changing bulbs etc. JBER/Elmendorf side shut down their hobby shop, and left the Ft Rich one open...unfortunately thats waaaaaay on the other side of the complex. DoD budget cuts at their finest!
