Spline count??? Please help
« on: June 16, 2012, 02:28:02 pm »
Alright, I have a 1985 Chevy K10. It had a 305 in it and a 700r4. The truck is four wheel drive. I am on deployment and I am getting all the parts I need to put a rebuilt 406 into the truck and to rebuild the transmission. All I have left on my list is a HD torque converter. But I don't know what the spline count is and I have no way to find out first hand until I get back. But I need the parts by then because I have to get the truck done while I am on leave.  Can anyone please help me out here. I am buying a torque converter from monster transmission. Thanks everyone.

So I read that GM switched in 85 to a 30 spline count on the 700r4.  I will do more research and report back.

So from everything I can find in late 84 GM changed the transmissions to a 30 spine count instead of a 27 spline count.  Hope this helps and I am sure if any one else has something to offer they will comment.
