1989 c2500 headers
« on: July 07, 2012, 02:06:16 pm »
i purchased a 89 c2500 and exhaust was destroyed on it.went to get duals put on it then find out my manifold was junk on passenger side.then i get a set of headers from a friend, yes they will work. go threw put them on and find out that there for a 4wd and they hit the a arm.so my buddy calls summit orders a set of hooker long tube and they failed to mention that some chevys the motor sites in the center and some sit off to the passenger side?? so had to jack the motor up and it still hits the frame. pry bar fixed that issue for now.now can someone tell me why chevy would have a motor that sits in the center of the truck and then a motor that sits off to the passenger side? any info appreciated thanks.

All Chevy pickups have the motor sitting in the center of the truck.  Only Mopars have offset drivetrains.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-69440/  - these are the offset headers via notes
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-69090/  - these are the centered headers via notes

when i get my truck back ill take a picture to show its off center in the truck, also whats even weirder is mine is a manual so i would expect it to be a centered not offset.

if you go on the application pages on the links provide ,you see the offset ones are for 1994 or later, the centered one are for the earlier applications, offset for the ifs suspension
its never finished
