Install another radio/cd player
« on: July 14, 2012, 12:18:54 pm »
Hello all, I am new to the forum and see lots of great information and look forward to posting. I have an '86 chevy shortwide that I am fixing up with my son for his first car. lots of fun!!

I also have a 2003 Tahoe that I am currently having trouble with. It has a cdplayer/radio and the cd player quit on it. I want to buy a used one off of ebay, but can i just install it or is there something special I have to do to get a used one out of another vehicle working??

thanks for the help!!!

Welcome from NW Indiana.  Make sure the radio you pick is unlocked, tested and the seller offers return.  There is a lot of junk that is for sale on eBay.  Better yet, try Crutchfield.

Welcome from California.  Your best bet besides what Zieg said, is to check with a place that install's stereo's and make sure the one you are looking at will work with your 2003, they might have a install kit that will make it work.
