1980 Cheyenne c10 big 10 stepside.
« on: July 14, 2012, 03:13:06 pm »
I bought this truck in 1990. I'm the 2nd owner. (will get a pic up latter)

Every thing is original to the truck Note:(CCL44AZ) except the engine. witch has been replaced with a rebuilt 350 four boalt main, 10 over. Came with the 350 four barrel, 4 speed manuel trans. Full instermet cluster, AC, and bucket seats with console, and carpetting. The only thing they missed is electric windows.

I have looked at a lot of trucks over the years. Haven't seen one setup like this strait from the factory. I know there has to be others out there. Have you seen any?

I know someone with a step side set up like you are describing.  Nice set up, and will be looking forward to the pics when you get them up.

Is it a long or short stepside?  Very interesting having the bucket seats and a manual transmission factory in a pickup like that.

Post the photos soon.

Thanks bake, I have seen some that are close. I can't find my USB cable to my cam. Have to go pick one up.

Jason: It's a short stepside 2wd. The seats are that cammel brown. I have seen them in Blazer's.

Found the USB cable.

#1: Yes it's very dirty.

#2: some of the interior parts are out for a cleaning. The head liner needs to be repaced.

#3: The bucket seats are one of the things that sold me on this truck.

#4: rebuilt (stock) 350 4 bolt 10 over has about 70k on it now. I was going for daily driver, not power.
I know you can't see it with all the other stuff in the way.

Very cool.  I wish Chevrolet and GMC would've done more trucks with a setup like this.

I'm guessing someone ordered this truck like this (giggered fools didn't get the tilt column, and ele windows/locks). Dosn't make it worth any more, but it is cool. Right now I'm out of town on a job site. When I get home I'm going to clean it up and take it for trip around the block. Take some more picks.

I didn't work on the rockers. I just got home and now have to head out again. I got the 1980 c10 stepper up and running. Threw in a battery and primed it, started right up. Checked the tires air, and went for a spin around the block. The brakes didn't feel right to me. I pulled the rims and inspected the brakes (put the truck back on jackstands). They are all in good shape, I remember replacing them before I had parked it 4 years ago. my guess is vacuum leak. I did replace the master cylinder (new) about 8 years ago, but I'm not sure about it. Also had the system flush, power bled at the same time.

Next problem, squirrels got into my F350 and ate their way into the heater box. Made them selves a nice cosy nest for the winter. I didn't think they had gotten into the c10. It would seem they did, or maybe it's something else. Half of the c10's instrument cluster's lights don't work. When I turned on the headlights, one of the turn signals come on to. So I checked the turn signals, they didn't work.

I pulled the instrument cluster, and dash pad. All the wiring looks good, other than where the OE stereo was. I got 3 wires there. One has to be ground. One should be +12v, but what is the 3rd one, is it the other +12v needed on stereos? I will have to look at the wiring diagrams you have on the site. There is another two wires I have always known about. I never looked into them because every thing worked. Now though, I want to be in the know. Image #2 hummmmmmm with jumper and all?

Part of the reason I pulled the instrument cluster. After reading one of the restomod builds on here. I wanted to check the firewall for rust. Image #3 Top part of pic is under the dash passanger side. There is another spot mid, but couldn't get the cam in there. Two bottom pics are engine firewall. Only 3 spots that need to be looked at. As you can see I have some work to do here. It don't look to bad, ~crosses fingers~.

Hopefully when I get home at the end of the month. I will have the time to pull the seats, carpet, And vent covers. Giving me room to clean the rockers, see where I stand.  I may pull the vent covers and unbolt the seats tonight.

The purple and yellow wires are for the clutch safety switch. For the radio you have 12 v power, ground and lights.
