Frame paint

I know very little about painting. I am trying to figure out how to paint my frame, should I put expoxy primer on bare  metal, then primer on top of that and then black paint? or is there something else I should know. How should I do this?

Has it still got factory paint on it?
Does if have rusty areas?
Did you sand blast it?
If it has original paint and rusty spots, I would sand blast it and start over with A self etching primer, then paint.
Or sand the old paint and needle scale the rusty section. then use Chassis Saver over the rust, then paint it with an in expensive Acrylic Enamal equipment paint.

So if I were to use something like this! Self etching primer is for clean bare metal only. It does no good over rust, or paint. I needle scale and pressure wash frames, then scuff up the old paint that's still adhered well. Chassis Saver the surface rust, then spray the entire thing with an inexpensive equipment acrylic enamel. Done.
When i use self etching primer I spray right over it with paint or SEM bed liner all the time. No problems.

All of the self etching primer cans I have read have said that they need a sealer over them.  I'm not sure why though???

I used a kit from Eastwood with rust neutralizer, encapsulator, and a top coat. Very nice and easy seems very tough
