Almost New Member from Paso Robles, CA

Well I am not completely new. I have asked for some help before and gotten great Replies! Just wanted to come over here and formally introduce myself.

My name is Tony. I live in Paso Robles Ca. I have a 76 GMC K14 shortbed stepside.

I am rebuilding it because I hit a cattle guard in the oil fields where I work. I hit it at about 35MPH right in the driver side tie rod. Needless to say the tie rod was WAY bent back all the way to the pumpkin. Also broke the steering drag link. Pretzeled the frame up front as well. Well I got a new 75" 4X4 frame off a Chevy shortbed and have been slowly putting it back together. I had an AC cab that had just a little rust on the pass side floor pan. I was going to restore it over time but wrecking on Memorial day kinda changed my time line,

So far the new frame is mechanically complete. All steering parts are rebuilt/replaced. I have the bed back on temporally until I paint. The cab I had was an auto trans cab so we just cut the floor out for the high hump. I also cut the hump extension out of my original cab. I have the new cab on the truck now (not bolted down) will have to flip her on her back to rhinoline the underneath but still have the hump extention to weld in. We start paint and body in a couple weeks. Not going for a "show" truck so a single stage grey paint will be the ticket.

I am a power plant operator/mechanic so the work is not that hard just time consuming. I have no shop so I am working on it at a buddies house 30 mins from home.

I have 5 kids (4 grown, 1 4.5 yrs old) married and just doing my thing. Huge NASCAR fan! Fav driver #24 Jeff Gordon (let the ribbing begin ha ha)

If anyone has any questions or suggestions on the rhinoline or paint or just anything let me know. I have found this site and the members here invaluable to making this project a success.

Well that's about it. Hello from the Central Coast of California!
Tony

Here is a pic of where I am at now on the project!

Welcome from South Carolina. I'm a power plant Shift Supervisor but everything up in the air right now we are closing the plant down. I'll still have a job but it is a 56 mile trip 1 way.
