Drop spindle problems
« on: August 03, 2012, 07:17:52 pm »
I bought some 3 inch DJM Suspension Drop Spindles for 1.25 inch Rotors. The rotors are installed and when I go to install the caliper with brake pads the outside pad is so tight against the rotor you can't spin it. There's no play in the caliper. It's almost like the rotor sticks to far out. I toke a picture below. Has this happened to anyone?

Three WAGs:
Are the rotors seated on the spindles (as in, are the correct seals installed, are the bearings seated, etc)?

That rotor is mighty shiny!  Did you just upgrade the spindles and rotors from 1" thick JB3 rotors to 1.25" thick JB5 rotors?  Did you upgrade the calipers too - they're different between JB3 and JB5.

If the rotors measure 1.25" thick, you may have JB5 rotors mounted on JB3 spindles that use the 1" thick rotors.  Perhaps the spindles were mislabeled.  Call the manufacturer or vendor.

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

I have 1.25in rotors and I have the JB5 Calipers. Everything is brand new. I'm going to try tightening the spindle nut the make sure everything is seated.
