hello, i posted on this forum a few months ago about me seeking a clean bed, since im located far north on the canadian side, i guess finding clean rust-free cabs and beds are a tough mission.
I just located an part only 1987 GMC 2500 CREW CAB.
it has a 350 /auto in it, and some rust here and there.I can have it for a very lil money. The engine drinks some oil and it probably need new rings, so lets talk about a complete rebuilt.
My project truck is a 1974 GMC 1500, rusted tru floors, bed and body parts. I bought it for the 350 core in it, but since my GF drove it, she dont want me to part it out, so to make her happy ill rebuilt the truck for her,I also own a lil farm so it will be more than usefull,I want to rebuilt the truck with as lil budget as possible.I want to kinda challenge myself on this one.trying to make the best truck with lil money as possible.
I am thinking of buying the 2500 CREW CAB , and use all the parts i could put on my 74. to rebuilt it. but since its a 2500 CREW CAB and 1987 truck, wheels, hubs ,differential, steering box, sheetmetal(i want to retain the 73-80 front look),will fit on my truck but are maybe overkill, I really wonder if it would be usefull to finally buy the 2500 to part it for my truck.
Should i put the 14 bolts axle on my truck?? even if my stock 12 bolts is more than sufficient? etc etc..I even thought about cutting the 2500 crew cab frame to make it possible for my 74 body to fit on it.Im kinda good fabricator. and anyway the truck will end up frame off if i restore it.
Geez im getting tired of building car (thats my job),and juts want to know what you guys think of that?Maybe i could sell some of my parts to you guys needing a 14 bolts rear end. or other parts. let me know ...I love that truck because it is made to be soo simple, but all this is getting complicated.
Peter.
