Outside mirror options
« on: August 24, 2012, 09:55:40 am »
Has anyone replaced their outside mirror (mines an 84) with something a little more sleek or custom thats actually looks good and functions well?

Yes, I do, sorry I didn't specify.   I have done some searching and it appears there aren't too many options that look good.

I have seen Camaro mirrors mounted and some have put Ford pickup mirrors on there, but for function, the ones you have are hard to beat.

Not sure if you can see these well in the pic. Not sure what they are from either.
But you can see if you like the look.

Thanks. Yea, my truck, and the view is very limited from the mirrors. I put spot mirrors on them for a recent trip pulling a trailer, but took them off afterwards cause I didn't like the look.
i'll get better pics and post them this evening.

The mirrors in the pic are factory "sport mirrors". I have the same on my truck, They are a little small so they are somewhat limited. They work fine for backing but not so much for lane changing.

No.
The 67-72 Chevy truck mirrors are different than the 73-87 "Sport" mirrors.

There are some of the 73-87 "Sport" mirrors on ebay.  I'd recommend you first check with Capt Kaos to see if he has them.

I bought mine new and like jason s says they are different. There are many close options but imo the 73-87 are the best for that size.

I had peep mirrors when I got my extended cab, looked decent but absolutely useless otherwise.
