REar End Swap
« on: September 06, 2012, 07:39:44 pm »
86 Longbed....350/350 combo.  There are some nasty clanks in the back when I let off the gas. Thinking there is something astray in the rear end.  I can get a complete rear less drums for $65 at the local upull.  Seems easier than taking mine apart and investigating and fixing. The PO may have been a bit rowdy with it.

Question is what years will be the same to fit in.  It's flipped so I'll need to weld pads onto the new one.  Ratios are not important to me, just that the entire rear will swap easily.

You could check your U joints first. Does it clunk when you put it in gear?

Where are you located?  If you needed to change the entire rear out I'd consider GIVING you my old 10 bolt I plan to swap out for a 14FF soon.
