Hello all. Looking to buy an 86 custom deluxe, V6 - 3 on the tree with 46k miles. I have checked the truck out already and made an offer. It just needs to pass inspection before I pick it up.

There is typical northeast rust for a 26 year old truck, it is somewhat beat up cosmetically, the gas gauge doesn't work, but it runs and drives solid. I am wondering if there are any common or specific problems with this model/year that I should look out for.

Also, what is the best place to purchase OEM parts? I am asking because I MIGHT do some restoration work on the truck eventually, but if I do I would want to keep it completely stock.

OEM parts can only be found on Ebay or in a salvage yard.  They are over 30 years old now.

Found gmpartsdirect.com. Seems to be pretty good.

I meant factory replacements. Not the original parts that were manufactured when the truck was built.

And yes, 46k miles. Like I said, runs great but looks worn and has surface rust. I will post some pics when I get the truck, and once I find out where to post pics!

This is of course assuming the deal goes through, which I don't see any reason it wouldn't.
