My 1980 C10 Frame off.
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:07:24 pm »
New here to this site. Showed some pictures in the Welcome area. I now have enough pictures to start my own thread on my build. I found the truck in a guys yard here in NC. The truck is a 1980 Silverado C10, with a 454 engine that needs a rebuild, a 700r4 transmission, and a 14 bolt 5 lug 373 rear. This truck is my first truck build. My last build was a 1984 Monte Carlo Street Stock. The truck has been stripped down, frame and cab went to the blaster. Currently I am cleaning the frame in prep for paint.

Should be nice. 14 bolt 5 lug? Are those custom axles? Don't think I've ever seen 5 lug for the 14 bolt.

454SS trucks were 14bolts with 5 on 5 axles.  (semi float)  This was the ONLY 14 bolt with them and ONLY came on the 454SS from the factory.

Looks like you have a pretty good truck to start with. Keep the pics and details coming!

Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand, and I shall move the earth or break this bolt...Whatever, just hold my beer!

Frame blasted, sanded, and 3 coats of paint. New rear poly bushings, rear end back in and running brake lines.

Few more pics from today. Rear end is done fuel lines back in, brake lines from rear to front done, e brake cables, left side tank done and in. The 454 that was in the truck along with busted up motor mounts caused the top of the frame rails to lift, so I brought them back down and reinforced them under the motor mount plates.

That was a good looking truck before the rebuild, can't wait to see the finished product.

The PO was going to put a roll cage that he cut out of another car, so to get it in they cut the roof off. But that was as far as they got, we pulled the car out his woods. He wanted me to buy his roll cage also, I passed, wasnt anything that I wanted. The car was an 1984 Monte. Raced it for one year and sold it.
