Instrument cluster
« on: October 18, 2012, 02:43:52 pm »
My oil pressure gauge is pegged right and fluxuates when I hit the gas. Me temp gauge does not seem to work at all. I worried my fuel gauge is not reading correct either. I have a very limited knowledge about the instrument cluster but need some trouble shooting tips to make all of the gauges work. Any help would be appreciated.

check your oil sending unit on the back of the engine to the right of the distributor. there should be a plug with a wire that connects to it. the oil pressure sending units are notorious for going bad.  for the temp there should be a clip with a wire that goes to a temp sensor located on the drivers side of the engine about half to 3/4 of the way up towards the front. it clips right on it. check those first.

I'm in the same boat. My oil pressure is usually all the way to the right, sometimes in the middle. Battery gauge is all the way left. Clock doesn't work. Gas gauge only goes to half tank, even when full. And I think my speedometer reads about 10mph slower than I'm actually going. And I can't remember of there's more gauges, but they don't work either.
